Mud & More
By: Carolyn Broussard & John DePriest
[Verse 1]
Raindrops on the forest floor
Boots wallow through mud and more
Three days since I couldn't take it anymore
And walked out that door
He followed me out the house
I said I didn't want him around
No matter what I did, he wouldn't leave
So I shot him
[Chorus]
I dug a hole with a metal spade
I said some words about the life we'd made
Then I kicked his body in
And I forgot him.
[Verse 2]
It had been too damn long
I shoulda done been gone
The only reason that I let it go on
Cause of what he might do
That night it came to a head
I can still hear those words that he always said
“one of us is gonna wind up dead”
It wasn't gonna be me.
[Chorus]
I dug a hole with a metal spade
I said some words about the life we'd made
Then I kicked his body in
And I forgot him.
